Your Privacy Matters

Voxsum is designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe your voice notes and personal data should stay under your control.

Data Collection

We do not run user accounts, and we do not keep a copy of your content on our servers. Your transcripts, audio files, summaries, tasks, and settings are stored locally on your device. To transcribe and summarize in Cloud Mode, your audio and transcript text pass through a relay service we operate on their way to our processing provider — but they are not stored by us (see the sections below).

Cloud Transcription

When using Cloud Mode (the default), your audio is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to a relay proxy we operate on Cloudflare's network (Cloudflare, Inc. processes the request, including its network IP address, on our behalf), and is forwarded to Groq, Inc. (groq.com), which performs the speech-to-text transcription and returns the text. Our relay does not store your audio. Groq processes the audio to generate the transcript; Groq's handling and retention of data are governed by its own privacy policy and data-processing terms.

AI-Powered Analysis

After transcription, your transcript text (never the audio) — together with any summary-language preference you set — is sent through our relay proxy (operated on Cloudflare's network) to Groq for summarization and task/date extraction. This happens automatically when you are connected to the internet. Our relay does not store this text; Groq's processing is governed by its own privacy policy.

Our Relay Proxy & Abuse Prevention

Cloud Mode requests pass through a lightweight relay proxy we operate, so that our processing keys are never embedded in the app. The relay forwards your audio or text to the processing provider and returns the result without storing it. To prevent abuse, each request includes a randomly generated, anonymous app-installation identifier and the network IP address of the request; these are used transiently for rate-limiting only, are not used to build a profile of you, and are not linked to your identity.

Offline Mode (Premium)

With a downloaded AI model, all processing happens entirely on your device. No audio or text is ever transmitted over the network. This is the maximum privacy option, available to premium subscribers.

In-App Purchases

Purchases are handled through Google Play's billing system. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous app user ID and purchase receipts — they do not receive any transcript content, audio, or personal information. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for details.

Analytics and Tracking

The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, no tracking pixels, no advertising identifiers, and no fingerprinting. We do not collect behavioral or usage data from within the app. We do not use Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, the Facebook SDK, or any similar service. (Google Play provides developers with standard, aggregated, non-identifying statistics — such as install counts and anonymized crash reports — at the platform level; this is inherent to distributing through the Play Store and is governed by Google's own policies, not ours.)

These permissions are only used for their stated purpose. Data accessed through them never leaves your device, except the audio (and, in Cloud Mode, the resulting transcript text) sent for cloud transcription and analysis as described above.

How to Delete Your Data

You can delete all your data at any time from Settings > Delete All History. This permanently removes all transcripts, audio files, tasks, and tags from your device, and uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. We maintain no user accounts and no server-side database of your content, so there is nothing stored on our servers for us to delete. Content sent through our relay in Cloud Mode is not stored by us; any incidental, transient processing logs at our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) or at Groq are governed by their respective privacy policies.

Children's Privacy

Voxsum does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is rated "Everyone" and does not contain content or features directed at children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
